By on

Adult Swim has green lit the third season of animated science fiction sitcom, Rick and Morty. In an interview with creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, they revealed that Rick and Morty Season 3, which was supposed to premiere this August, is due for release later at the end of the year. As promised, the new season will be filled with new and exciting adventures for Rick and Morty.

Rick and Morty is an American animated series that tells the story of Rick Sanchez (voiced by Justin Roiland) who recently moved into the house of his daughter Beth and her family. Rick is like any normal scientist who spends most of his time in his laboratory, working on his inventions. Rick and Morty Season 3 will feature how Rick works with his youngest grandson Morty in testing his latest inventions.

Morty as a child will have a hard time coping with the two lives he?s living – as an ordinary family member and as a secret sidekick to his grandfather Rick as they go on some dangerous adventures. Primarily, it was only Rick and Morty; now, it looks like Rick?s granddaughter Summer will also join their adventures.

Despite the creators wanting to keep everything a secret until they have fully secured their resources, Harmon said he also dreams of having Vin Diesel as one of the actors who will do some of the voiceovers in the series. ?I just want to meet Vin Diesel. I know he plays D&D so I just want to have a conversation with him about doing it,? he shared.

The characters in Rick and Morty Season 3 include Rick Sanchez (voiced by Justin Roiland), Morty Smith (voiced by Justin Roiland), Beth Smith (voiced by Sarah Chalke), Jerry Smith (voiced by Chris Parnell) and Summer Smith (voiced by Spencer Grammer).

Rick and Morty Season Season 1 premiered on December 2, 2013 and was renewed for its second season in July 25, 2015. Because the show has been well-received by viewers, the Adult Swim network ordered a 14-episode Rick and Morty Season 3 which is scheduled for release in late 2016.
