If you haven’t noticed, every single Rick and Morty episode title references other media properties, usually replacing a specific word with a reference of its own. Oftentimes it’s Rick like Season 1 Episode 9’s “Something Ricked This Way Comes” which gives a nod to Ray Bradbury’s novel. Although there are instances where the show also replaces a word in the title with Morty’s name such as “Mortynight Run,” a pun on Midnight Run. Most recently, Adult Swim released “The Rickshank Redemption” which is obviously based on The Shawshank Redemption.
Since the Rick and Morty Season 3 Episode 2 title has already been revealed, the question now is what exactly it entails for the upcoming episode? Spoilers ahead! Keep reading if you want the latest scoop on this story.
As previously reported, the second episode is titled “Rickmancing the Stone” and according to Inverse, it “clearly” takes inspiration from the movie Romancing the Stone.
Rickmancing The Stone
For those who do not know, the film in question is a 1984 American action-adventure romantic comedy Robert Zemeckis directed. It stars Kathleen Turner who travels to Colombia to save her sister and follow a treasure map. She’s later joined by a mercenary played by Michael Douglas who ultimately falls in love with the lady.
Rick has been very vocal in the past with how he feels about love and romance, so it’s very unlikely that the show would parody the romantic elements of the movie. But there’s a gem crucial to the story, so the show could be focusing on that side of the plot instead. Perhaps, Summer might get kidnapped and Morty would have to embark on a journey with Rick to save her. Or, the duo might both portray Douglas’ character here, “selfishly trying to smuggle some exotic goods while falling coincidentally into someone else’s adventure.”
What About Pickle Rick?
The Rick and Morty official Twitter page has previously teased that “a pickle will rise” this summer” as the duo set out for a brand new adventure after Rick escapes from prison. But it remains unclear how Pickle Rick would fit in the Romancing the Stone premise.
Rick is free, but he won't be going on more adventures until this summer. A pickle will rise…

Could it be the gem? We’ll have to wait and see until the show returns this July. As of this writing, there is still no exact release date attached to the third season yet, although it’s confirmed to have 13 episodes left for airing.
