Good news, Rick and Morty fans. After whetting the fans’ appetite with a surprise April Fools’ premiere, Adult Swim is airing the remaining Season 3 episodes of the popular show in three months’ time. That’s right, Rick and Morty are returning this July! That’s not all: Episode 2 got its title and potential plot details too. Here’s everything we know about the show’s highly awaited return.
When is the Rick and Morty Season 3 Episode 2 Air Date?
Season 3’s April 1 premiere was both a present and a prank. If you were able to watch the surprise episode, you’ve probably assumed that Episode 2 will air the next Saturday. Obviously, nothing came that weekend and the next ones. Fret no more, though, because a new report claims it will air in July. The bad news is there is no exact date yet that we can mark on our calendars yet. Still, that should be enough to rouse the long wait.
What will the episode be about?
Right after Episode 1 was finished, the producers of Rick and Morty provided a spoiler on their twitter account stating “A Pickle Will Rise.” With the lack of explanation, many fans begged them to provide more. Generous enough, the showrunners gave another one, writing: “Rick is free, but he won’t be going on more adventures until this summer. A pickle will rise…”
“A pickle will rise” suggests Rick will turn himself into a pickle again which means the makers have changed their view from galactic adventures to something new. How or why Rick decides to do so is uncertain but Pickle Rick is definitely coming.
We can recall that Rick killed all his clones in “Big Trouble in Little Sanchez” episode after a traumatic Tiny Rick experience. However, he was quite disgusted with having to inhabit the bodies of alternate dimension Rick’s in “The Rickshank Redemption.” If the predictions are right, Pickle Rick could be Rick’s way to get his original body back which was dead after the Season 3 premiere.
Rick and Morty Season 3 Episode 2 is reportedly titled “Rickmancing The Stone” but Adult Swim and the showrunners have not confirmed it yet.
Any more characters returning?
We’re not really sure if the series would recur old characters, but the show is no stranger in featuring a few in latest episodes. If RAM considers doing it again, there are requests of Krombopulos Michael, Roy, and Mr. Poopy Butthole’s reappearance. Armagheadon, Ice-T, and Arthricia are also hoped to be brought back to the show.
Unfortunately, at this point, they’re merely items on a wishlist. There are so far no indications of their return that we know of. Speculations are rife that the Council of Ricks will be back on Episode 2. But again, we’ll have to wait until the rest of Season 3 airs this summer to confirm such claim.
Where can I watch Rick and Morty Season 3 online?
The first two seasons of RAM are both available for streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Fans residing in America, however, are limited in their choice as Hulu owns the streaming right to the show. Once the new episodes of Rick and Morty air in the US, Express says it will unlikely make its way to the streaming services.
Rick and Morty Season 3 has 13 episodes left for July. Writer Dan Guterman teased on Twitter that how fans accepted the premiere episode will pretty much be an indication of how they will react to the rest of the season. Check out his tweet below:
if you loved that episode, we top it this season, multiple times. If you hated it, we top it this season, multiple times.
