It’s been over a year since the second season of Rick and Morty aired. Creators surprisingly premiered the third one on April Fools’ Day, but after releasing a single episode, the series went on a hiatus again. When exactly it resumes remains a mystery, but the show thankfully spilled the Rick and Morty Season 3 Ep 2 title so we can go on a deep dive exploration in the meantime.
You probably know by now that Rick and Morty episode titles takes inspiration from a well-known media property and Season 3 Episode 2 is no different. The next episode is called Rickmancing The Stone.
As we reported previously, this is a parody of the 1984 action-adventure Romancing the Stone starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. The film in question centers on Joan, a romance-adventure novelist who goes to the Colombian jungle to save her sister and follow a treasure map. She’s joined by a mercenary named Jack and they eventually fall in love as they retrieve the hostage and a valuable treasure.
So, what does this entail? What can we expect from the plot of the upcoming episode?
Crazy Theories About Rickmancing The Stone
The most obvious option is a jungle adventure. Reddit user Shun_Reaken predictsSummer would get kidnapped and Morty, just like the protagonist in the film, would have to embark on a journey to save her. Rick may not be too thrilled to participate in this rescue mission, considering he’s not really the rogue-adventurer kind of dude. However, since a family member is at risk here, he’ll surely get the job done at the end of the day.
Alternatively, Rick and Morty might both portray Jack in the episode, selfishly trying to smuggle some exotic goods while stumbling coincidentally into someone else’s adventure in another planet much like in Season 2 Episode 9: Look Who’s Purging Now. If not, it could be other moments in the film.
Perhaps Rickmancing The Stone riffs on the movie’s climax which sees Michael Douglas’ character chasing an alligator after it swallowed a crazy gem whole. Or, it could also be one of the funniest moments, featuring the protagonists getting wicked stoned after making a campfire out of pot. Such scenes would actually work well with the show’s humor.
Rick And Morty Season 3
Sadly, we’ll have to wait for an unknown time to confirm anything. Showrunners have confirmed that Rick and Morty Season 3 Ep 2 will air sometime this summer, but there is no exact release date announced yet. Word is that it’ll be next month and hopefully, it’ll materialize.
Rick and Morty Season 3 is believed to have 14 episodes which are way longer compared to the 11-episode Season 2. All will be broadcast on Adult Swim in the US.
