Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi confirmed via its official Weibo account a special launch event on July 27th in China where it will unveil a new handset dubbed Redmi Pro. Though earlier rumors suggested the launch of ?Redmi Note 4? it seems the company has renamed the device to Redmi Pro.
Xiaomi plans to redefine the new series and one of the highlight features that is expected make the Redmi more Pro is rear dual-camera setup. The dual-cameras have become a new fad as seen in recently launched Huawei P9 for which the Chinese company partnered with the renowned Lecia. Xiaomi too looks to be positioning its Redmi Pro in direct competition to Huawei?s medium range Honor 8 device.
Though the details regarding the new Mi device remain unclear, a recent teaser confirmed the dual camera in one of the forthcoming Xiaomi devices. A image showing the young Chinese actor Haoran Liu holding a dual camera phone with Mi branding on the body was seen on Weibo. Since the actor was justed signed as the official spokesperson for Xiaomi?s Redmi lineup it seems confirmed the dual-cameras are coming.
Another image of Redmi Pro with metallic design emerged showing two large camera sensors aligned vertically on the rear. In between the two camera sensors, there is an dual LED flash.
Other significant feature will be OLED display in the upcoming device. While OLED display is quite common to several smartphones, it is still a big thing for Xiaomi who till now has been stuck with IPS LCD displays.
Xiaomi, released new official teasers and the text accompanying the post reveals that from the current day till launch day, Xiaomi will announce the Redmi Pro using three spokespersons.
One of the video shows, celebrity Chef Liu Shi Shi is shown cooking an ?OLED PING?. Other teasers reveals that Liu Shi shi is going to make ?ten nuclear double stem head?, and ?Mentor? Liu Hao is going to make ?brushed gold potato? (literal translations from Chinese).
With these teasers, Xiaomi seems to conveying that the Redmi Pro comes with OLED display, Deca-core processor (Helio X25) and dual cameras.
Leaked benchmarks claim the Redmi Pro device will come in two variants – one with a 2GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 MT6769M processor and 3GB of RAM and another sporting the MediaTek Helio X25 MT6769T clocked at 2.5GHz and 4GB of RAM. Plus it will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 13MP rear dual cameras, a 5MP selfie shooter, 4100mAh battery and fingerprint reader. The device will boot into MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow.
The company also announced that Xiaomi Redmi Pro will launch along with a ?mysterious small partner?, though there?s no word on what this device could it be. Speculations are rife that Xiaomi will unveil the Mi notebook, their first laptop with a design similar to Apple?s Macbook Air.
