The new Red Hot Chili Peppers ?Sick Love? animated music video, bizarre as it may, tells a great story. The single is taken from the long-running band’s latest album, The Getaway. It’s the Chili Peppers’ 11th studio album that’s been released. It was produced by Danger Mouse. This is the first time they used anyone except for Rick Rubin for production since their Mother’s Milk album back in 1989.

As soon as the lass gets in LA, the video takes a twisted turn, blurring image and reality. News anchors no longer reads news, instead, they start throwing up at each other. Party goers turn into monstrous beasts. There are devils whispering in people’s ears, telling them what they want to hear. And the band’s frontman Anthony Kiedis’ head gets bitten off by a spider he makes out with.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers has definitely come a long way since they formed in LA back in 1983. Their musical style basically consists of rock with some emphasis on funk. They also use elements from other genres like punk rock and psychedelic rock. When played live, their music is mind-blowing. Especially when they incorporate elements of jam band.
Right now the band consists of founding members vocalist Anthony Kiedis, and bassist Flea, longtime drummer Chad Smith, and ex-touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. They have become one of the best-selling bands of all time. They have more than 80 million records sold all over the world per Wikipedia.
They’ve been nominated for 16 Grammys, of which they snagged six. And right now they’re considered the most successful band in alternative rock in the history of radio. They have by far the most No.1 singles (13), most number of weeks at No.1 (85) and most top ten songs (25) on the Billboard Alternative Songs Chart. And in 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Simply amazing.
