One of the regular fighters in Mortal Kombat series has returned. Raiden, the Lightning God is coming to Mortal Kombat X with three varied fighting styles.
NetherRealm Studios, the developer of the upcoming game, has shown the fighting styles of its latest character in a preview shown at EVO 2014.
Here is?the trailer preview of Raiden?s combat skills.
Thunder God Raiden ? Electrocution Combos
The character?s first fight style is called Thunder God Raiden. He utilizes various electrocution combos to inflict heavy damage to his opponents. Raiden could also use the combo as his finishing move.
Displacer Raiden – Teleportation
Ed Boon, one of the co-creators of Mortal Kombat, explained Raiden?s second style in an interview. Known as Displacer Raiden, this style showcases his teleportation ability. Raiden could teleport on either left or right side of his opponent. This style could also help him escape when cornered by his opponent, and enable him to launch some counter moves.
Storm Lord Raiden ? Lightning Traps
Storm Lord Raiden is a style that has never been used by the character in all previous Mortal Kombat games. This particular move allows Raiden to set up lightning traps that will ensnare and inflict damage to his opponent.
Raiden will toss two lightning bombs that will create a continuous current. This will enable the character to control a wider area of the fight arena, and this move will certainly be a favorite among players who prefers to keep their opponent at bay, or at least give Raiden some breathing space.
In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden was the central figure in the story but that will no longer be the case in Mortal Kombat X. Though, he will still be among the key figures in the upcoming game.
Raiden first appeared in the original Mortal Kombat and has always been present in the succeeding game series. Raiden is portrayed in the game as the Protector of Earthrealm and the Thunder God. Raiden usually wears a white robe with a blue vest. He also wears a straw hat that shades his face.
