Qualcomm confirmed that it will reveal more information about its upcoming Snapdragon 835 chipset next week at the Consumers Electronics Show, also known as CES 2017, in Las Vegas.
A newly posted teaser claims that the Snapdragon 835 will ?come into focus? at the event. The company will hold an event on January 3 at the CES 2017 and is expected make the announcement then.
Snapdragon 835 Features
Qualcomm previously revealed that the Snapdragon 835 would be made with Samsung?s 10-nanometer FinFET process. This would result in lower consumption and better performance. The chipset is able to deliver up to 27 percent higher performance and will draw up to 40 percent less power when compared to the Snapdragon 820 and 821.
The Snapdragon 835 also supports the new Quick Charge 4.0 feature. Qualcomm promises the chipset will deliver up to 5 hours of battery life in just 5 minutes of charge time. The company also revealed that the typical smartphone will charge up to 50 percent in 15 minutes.
Snapdragon 835 Benchmark Leak
So far, Qualcomm has not revealed much more than this information. The hardware specifics for the Snapdragon 835, such as clock speed and graphics performance, are yet to be revealed.
A recent benchmark result leaked earlier this month has alleged that the 835 chipset has an octa-core design with a clock speed of 2.2GHz. The benchmark test also revealed the chipset will house an Adreno 540 GPU. The new Adreno 540 scored 30 percent faster than the current Adreno 530.
Another benchmark test has shows the chipset at lowers speed similar to previous Snapdragon 820 and 821. The reference device that was used for testing included a 4GB RAM but otherwise was pretty bare bones. These factors mean we do not get the actual score in the real environment.
The online benchmarking results can be faked so it is better to take these with a pinch of salt.?Unconfirmed rumors claim the first phone with the 835 will be none other than the Samsung Galaxy S8, which may be revealed sometime in April. Also other devices to feature the said chipset include the LG G6, Xiaomi Mi 6, Surface Phone, and more.
