Sony?s Playstation TV service, the PlayStation Vue, was previously only available to certain areas in the United States. This pretty much discouraged most customers who wanted to get the product. It was only made available to a few certain areas including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami. If you weren?t part of these cities, we have good news for you! Sony announced today that their PlayStation Vue Service will be made available nationwide (United States of America)!
Although the Xbox One?s Sling TV service has already made this possible a bit earlier than Sony, they still differ in variety and content. ESPN was launched earlier by Sling though, making the Playstation Vue a bit behind when it comes to crowd favorites.
The Playstation Vue is currently offering three new ?Slim? packages that offer different types of programming for different people. They are available in 203 brand new markets, ranging from $30 up to $45. They also offer a seven-day trial if you want to check them out.
Sony has announced their contents as follows:
- ???????Access Slim: 55+ channels, including live cable TV, movies, and sports channels for $29.99 per month.
- ???????Core Slim: 70+ channels, including all the channels from Access Slim with the addition of national and regional sports networks for $34.99 per month.
- ???????Elite Slim: 100+ channels, featuring all the channels from Core Slim with the addition of more top movie and entertainment channels for $44.99 per month.
There isn?t really much difference between the Slim packages and the standard offerings by PlayStation Vue. The only difference is that the Slim packages don?t offer programming from channels like ABC, Fox, and NBC, so if you plan to access these channels, you are better off with the standard package.
The Slim packages however, will offer video-on-demand content only. They have mentioned that most of the live content offered in the Slim package will still be available within 24 hours of airing on VoD. They will also be adding live local broadcast soon to the new markets. These services will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
