The PlayStation 4, had, ever since, ?been a console that has gotten the best of the Microsoft Xbox One. If, in the past, PlayStation had to rally before it reached the Xbox (PlayStation 3 against Xbox 360), now it enjoys a tremendous lead against Microsoft?s next generation console. There might?ve been mistakes on Microsoft?s part, but that has since led to a resounding lead for the PlayStation console.
So far, the PS4 has outsold the One, and June 2014 marks the fifth time that it did, so far. The exact figures aren?t that clear, but it was done based on a study which said that regardless of how well each console did, the PS4, Xbox One, and even the Wii U did considerably well during the time of the study. Combining total sales, the consoles collectively rakes in $187 million, a 95% increase from $96 million during the period of 2013.
On the part of Wii U, its spike in sales was attributed to the success of the release of ?Mario Kart 8?. While the game launched only last May 30, the huge spike in its sales was credited due to buyers making pre-release purchases. The Wii U has been around even before the release of the Xbox One and the PS4.
So far, Sony and Microsoft prefer not to reveal just how their respective consoles are exactly doing. However, last April, Sony announced that the PlayStation was in fact doing quite well. The PS4, which launched last November, has since sold a total of 7 million units, 4 million more than that of the Xbox One, which reached 3 million units only last March 31.
Sony released a thank you message from Social Media Director Sid Shuman on the PlayStation blog last April. He thanked the consumers for their continued support of the PS4 and for their continued preference of the PlayStation. He also said that this wasn?t possible without the consumers, most of whom were active in social media channels. He renewed Sony?s commitment to listen to its fans on how to make the console and games better.
Even in the worldwide arena, Sony is unforgiving, lording over Microsoft?s Xbox One. So far, the PlayStation 4 has enjoyed a total of 4.2 million units sold all over the world, and this is just during December 2013. This was revealed in an announcement during the International CES in Las Vegas. And so far, as much as consoles go, the PS4 had been the most successful of Sony?s console launches.
As the momentum of the PS4 keeps on going, they are committed to continue bringing more gamers and converts over to the fold to experience immersive gaming and social interactions on the PS Network. They are also committed to bringing over tons of new and exciting content, and they will further develop the PS4 as time passes with new features and services.
During its launch on US shores, the PS4 sold around 1 million units within the first 24 hours, reportedly, and that led to 2.1 million consoles sold internationally around December. A week later, Microsoft launched Xbox One in 13 countries. They also said that they had achieved the 3 million mark by the end of December 2013.
