PS Vita Rachet And Clank Trilogy: Evolution of Series Review

By on

Ratchet and Clank first appeared on PlayStation 2 platform in 2002 . It became so popular that a series of Ratchet and Clank games were made. In celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Ratchet and Clank series, a trilogy of the game has been released for PS Vita in Europe.

Praise and Complaints

The first game in the trilogy, Ratchet & Clank is not a bad game, but it is definitely showing its age. It did not have the delightful and exciting features of its succeeding sequels like armor and weapon upgrade or mini-games.

Generally, the trilogy looks good on PS Vita, and the cartoon theme also made it visually appealing to the players. However the cut scenes looked blurry and one would assume that the developer should have made an effort to smoothen the graphics. The glitches in each trilogy are a little bit irritating but not enough to make you quit the game.

One such glitch is the music and sound effect where it would unexpectedly turn silent. It could be disconcerting at first but once you get used to it, you tend to ignore it. Another glitch that may occur is the slowing down of the game, particularly, when plenty of explosions are occurring at the same time.

Difficulty Ranking

Ranking the trilogy can also be difficult since the first game does not have the additional features of its?succeeding sequels., but based on their merit, the second game title is the most difficult while the third sequel is the least.

Weapons

Each game in the trilogy does offer various weapons for the players to choose from. A fun weapon to use is the Morph-O-Ray which can transform your enemy into harmless chickens. Weapons with names like Devastator and Annihilator sound ominous enough.

The game is certainly enjoyable to play with plenty of good humor and unrealistic but cool weaponry. Those new to the game would definitely like to start with this trilogy. Unfortunately, this trilogy is only available in Europe; since this PS Vita version has not reached North America.
