We’re still a week away from June but the rumor mill is already buzzing about what free games are coming to the PlayStation Plus lineup next month. Sony won’t likely make a PS Plus June 2017 Free Games announcement until the end of the month so we may have to wait a little while to confirm which titles will be included. Nonetheless, we’ve made our predictions below.
First released in October 2014, Alien: Isolation is a survival horror video game based on the popular movie franchise of the same name. It follows Amanda, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, 15 years after the events in the original Alien film.
It would be very timely to include this game for June’s lineup, considering the latest film Alien: Covenant has just premiered in the big screen this month. After all, the lore of the games coexist with that of the films, so it’s not a far-fetched idea for Sony and Fox to collaborate for some cross promotion.
There were talks that Sony’s PS Plus June 2017 Free Games could include 1 or 2 VR (Virtual Reality) titles but it was initially conditional to the Aim Gun Controller release. Now that the Aim Gun Controller has finally hit the shelves with a new PSVR title Farpoint, many hopefuls think it would really be a smart move for the console maker to include some VR titles to its subscription-based service’s free games lineup for June 2017.
We have Unravel as our Indie pick for June 2017. It’s an artsy platform video game from Electronic Arts originally released in January last year. As the main player, you’ll have to control protagonist Yarny and solve challenging environmental puzzles to unlock the memories of a lonely elderly homeowner. It features an easy to grasp gameplay and shorter storyline, so it would definitely make a great addition to the PS Plus free games lineup for June 2017.
The Walking Dead Season 1
If we’re getting one from Telltale next month, it could be The Walking Dead Season 1. It’s an episodic survival horror video game which takes place in the same fictional world as the TWD comic series. Released on 2012, you’ll play from a third-person perspective as Lee Everett, who works with a rag-tag group of survivors to stay alive in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
Dishonored: The Definitive Edition
The Dishonored Definitive Edition is a remaster of the original Dishonored game, featuring an enhanced graphics for the newest gen systems. Its sequel, Dishonored 2, has just been released last year, so Sony might as well consider this one for its June 2017 lineup for those who would like to play through the first game again. What do you think?
If you’re a member of Sony’s subscription-based service, then you can expect the free games to be available to download the second week in June. Sony is expected to reveal the PlayStation Plus June 2017 games list on May 31.
