Sony announced PS NEO during Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The company didn?t provide details about its specs and release date. However, reports claim that the new gaming console could be launched in September.
Sony is holding a PlayStation event on September 7 at the PlayStation Theatre in New York City. It is expected that the company could unveil PS NEO during the event. However, the device cannot be released before the end of 2016.
Reports claim that PS NEO will be released in the first half of this financial year. According to PC Advisor, French game distributor Innelec Multimedia has claimed that the new gaming console will be released either before or during October this year.
French retailer also reported that from this October, the games for PlayStation will be launched for PS4 and PS NEO. Games that will be launched in September will receive a patch for PS NEO compatibility.
PS NEO will support 4K gaming just like Xbox Scorpio. The next-gen gaming console is expected to have an 8-core Jaguar CPU that will boost the processing speed up to 2.1 GHz. The current CPU of PS4 offers the maximum speed of 1.6 GHz. So, an upcoming console would be a lot more powerful than the current PS 4. RAM and onboard storage will also get an upgrade.
It will support PlayStation Virtual Reality headset (PSVR). Sony revealed PSVR during the press conference at Game Developers Conference (GDC). The new VR headset will be released on October 13 and will cost $399. PSVR will include 5.7-inch OLED display with 1920×1080 resolution split across both eyes, and nine LEDs that let the PlayStation camera provide positional tracking.
There is no solid report about the price of PS NEO. The price will depend on its final specs as as the current 4K graphic cards are very expensive and can hike the price of the device. However, it is expected that the device will cost around $399. Readers have to wait for an official statement by Sony for exact price of PS NEO.
