?Shooters just got weird,? says the slogan that accompanied a photo tweeted on Wednesday by Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher behind Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. The following day, EA and PopCap, the game?s developer, announced that the said shooting game will come to Sony gaming consoles as early as August 19.

Plants vs. Zombies (PvZ): Garden Warfare was initially launched during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last year and debuted on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One this past February. EA?s tweet that included a photo of a pea shooter dressed similarly to Sly Cooper is seen as the publisher?s way of creatively and indirectly announcing the impending release of the PvZ game to the PS3 and PS4. Sly Cooper is a game franchise exclusive to Sony?s PlayStation consoles.

Garden Warfare pre-orders are already available today. If users are to purchase it now, they will also get two bonus digital card packs along with PlayStation-exclusive character customization items such as Hat Packs based from Sony games like Sly Cooper, Fat Princess, and Ratchet & Clank. Gamers can start to play the game with their PS3 or PS4, then continue playing it remotely and with no interruption via PlayStation Vita Remote Play.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is powered by Frostbite 3 technology, the same game engine that runs games like Need for Speed: Rivals and the Battlefield franchise. EA cited that the PS4 version of the PvZ game will offer an impressive 1080p (HD) output at 60 frames per second (fps).

Players can choose which side they will play with on Garden Warfare. The game will have multiplayer, team-versus-team combat gameplay. It is comprised of a four-player co-op mode and three modes for competitive play. It will also support split-screen multiplayer gameplay and a Boss Mode, which was formerly available only to the Xbox One version.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden warfare is only available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 platforms at present. A PC version is previously announced to be released this coming June. As mentioned, EA plans to release the PS3 and PS4 version on August 19 but this is only for North America. Mainland Europe will receive it on August 21 while the UK and Ireland will both have it on August 22.
