The breakout UK period drama, Poldark, will be returning with its Season 2 this September on BBC One. While Aidan Turner won Radio Times? ?TV Moment of the Year 2015? for his shirtless scything scene in the show, producers say that Turner?s Ross Poldark will be keeping his clothes on in the upcoming season.
Turner, who played the charming dwarf, Kili, in The Hobbit trilogy, rose to stardom in the BBC surprise hit in 2015 as the series garnered 9.5 million views in it first run.
Even though Ross will be keeping his clothes on (for now), we will fortunately be seeing more of him in the upcoming installment as BBC has ordered 10 episodes for Season 2.
Meanwhile, there?s more good news for fans as the hit Cornish-set period drama has already been renewed for a third season and Season 2 hasn?t even premiered yet! According to The Week, BBC has confirmed that there will be so much more action in store for fans.
Executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff said in a statement, ?Series two promises to take the audience on another fantastic rollercoaster ride and we?re thrilled to know that the story won?t end there.?
Kilgarriff added that the third season will also consist of 10 episodes which will be released next year. She also promises ?more twists and turns for these much loved characters.?
While Damien Timmer, from the series? production company Mammoth Screen said, ?Poldark is a passion project for all of us and it?s with real excitement that we prepare for both the launch of series two and our return to Cornwall to shoot series three.?
Fans can expect the upcoming season to be ?huge? as Turner previously said in an interview. ?It?s gonna be huge this year,? Turner said. ?I mean, it was big the first year, but with all the support and the fanbase that we?ve accumulated? It?s gonna be amazing.?
Radio Times reports that Season 2 will be set in 1794, ?against the backdrop of the French revolution, which casts a shadow over life in Cornwall.?
