Pokemon Sun And Moon: 3 Things You Shouldn’t Expect

By on

Of all the games that will be coming out in 2016, very few of them will be able to match the sheer hype that Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon is currently getting. The two games will probably introduce 100 or so new critters to collect, a few new evolutions for existing Pokemons and a number of additions that should please fans.

However, these are Pokemon games that will be coming out. The series has been aimed at children for quite some time now, and there might be a few changes here and there, but for the most part, all the games have been very identical.

While Pokemon Sun and Moon could change things up, it?s highly doubtful that Nintendo and Game Freak would change a successful formula. Here are three things that players shouldn?t expect from the new games.

Challenging Battles

Admittedly, there will be some trainers who could mean trouble if they have a Pokemon that the player is unfamiliar with, but that type of challenge doesn?t last long. Soon enough players will know most of the Pokemons in the game and eventually build a party of formidable creatures and dominate the Elite Four in the end.

The real challenge is in the multiplayer, but aside from that, the main game?s battles just aren?t very difficult, especially with the rock-paper-scissors dynamic of Pokemon weaknesses. Expecting this to change in Pokemon Sun and Moon is pretty foolish at this point.

Having a Dad

Ever since Pokemon Red and Blue were released, it?s become a hilarious tradition to make sure that the protagonist?s father is never seen in the game. There?s even a Web comic about anime lead Ash writing to his dad, wondering why he left him from artist Mare’ Odomo.

Unless Game Freak wants to stick it to the fans, there?s no point expecting the lead character to have a father in the game. If by chance the new game introduces one, there probably won?t be a mother.

Update:?Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire actually had the protagonist’s father as a gym leader. To date, it is the only Pokemon game to have both parents. Considering how the newer games didn’t follow suit, fans still shouldn’t expect a dad in Sun and Moon.

Compelling Villains

Pokemon Black and White probably had the most compelling villains in the series to date. Team Plasma was based on the PETA organization and essentially wanted Pokemon to be free from doing the bidding of trainers.

It?s not a bad premise for a Pokemon game but still pretty bland compared with other video games out there. Most of the Pokemon games have generic villains who want to rule the world, which will likely be the case for the newer games launching this year.

Pokemon Sun and Moon have been solicited for a holiday 2016 release for the 3DS. The games will be playable on the 2DS, 3DS XL, New 3DS and the New 3DS XL.
