Pokemon GO players are eagerly searching for Legendary Pokemon. Even though many players have reached advanced stages, nobody has come across Legendary Pokemon during the course of the game.
Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, Mew and MewTwo are the five Legendary Pokemon that are expected to surface in the game. The reference of some of these characters can be seen while playing the game.
Once a player reaches level 5, he is prompted to choose a team: Team Instinct (Yellow), Team Mystic (Blue) or Team Valor (Red). Each of the aforementioned teams have been assigned legendary birds as their mascots.
Articuno is the mascot for Team Mystic, Moltres is the mascot for Valor, and Zapdos is the mascot for Instinct. It is likely that the team system may have something to do with the legendary characters, but it is yet to be confirmed. The Legendary Pokemon may appear after capturing all the gyms.
Recently, while snooping through data files of the game, a Redditor was able to spot references of Legendary Pokemon. Rumors suggest that they won?t appear in the wild, but they are reserved to show up through special events or some sort of rewards.
In one of the trailers of Pokemon GO, a huge crowd of people were shown fighting with MewTwo at the Times Square. There were similar events in Ingress, the previous game by Niantic. Hence, there is a possibility that Legendary Pokemon may appear through in-game events.
Meanwhile, Ripley?s Believe It Or Not is offering a cash reward of $5000 to the player who succeeds in finding rare Pokemon. The contest that began on July 15 will end on July 24. Niantic Labs will be holding a Pokemon GO panel in San Diego Comic Con 2016. It is likely that the company may reveal information on Legendary Pokemon during the event.
