Nintendo, along with Niantic Labs, is gearing up for the Pokemon GO release. However, the mobile game lacks a chat functionality based on the location of the players. Although the upcoming mobile game is all about location-based functionality, fans have also been expecting a location-based in-game chat function. To deal with the problem, a Pokemon fan launched the mobile app GoChat which will allow players to post specific locations and send direct messages to nearby fellow players.

Jonathan Zarra was the one who developed the new GoChat mobile app. On a Reddit thread, the developer confirmed that the iOS version of his mobile app is now available to download for free and says it is highly useful for Pokemon GO. According to the user, more than 10,000 people are currently using GoChat app on Android, and the developer is hoping for the same success for its iOS version.

The details shared by the developer suggests that GoChat users will be able to post specific locations, which can be helpful in sharing the sites of specific gyms and Pokemon. The app also allows players to maintain their personal profiles, and they can also privately message nearby players.

According to the developer, Pokemon GO players will be able to see the post of users located in nearby places. In case the players are too far away, the GoChat app, just like the game, will notify the player that they will not be able to view the post and they must get closer to do so. The user also claims that the mobile app gives players the ability to flag posts or users, and they can even report them by visiting their profiles. The flagging feature currently works in the iOS app, and the feature will soon become available on the Android version.

On the Google Play Store itself, the application has received a good rating score and it seems that Pokemon fans are liking the mobile app. The Ingress-inspired Pokemon GO is scheduled to arrive sometime in July.

Update

Niantic has officially released the Android and iOS version of the game in three countries. A support page has also been made available to help players know all the mobile title’s game mechanics.
