Another day, another round of Pokemon GO theorycrafting. Last week, we highlighted how different Poke Stops can have wild results when a Lure is placed. Now, we?re taking a look at how Lures and Incense can affect Pokemon spawn rates.
Pokemon GO Lure Tips
This time, it looks like there is a lot more concrete information on the subject. On the Silph Road subreddit, a group of trainers has been busy discussing how Lures increase your chances of bagging a rare Pokemon.
A user named Arrowdactyl asked the Pokemon GO community whether using a Lure near a known Dratini spawn location would increase his odds at catching one. Many players quickly responded, saying that using a Lure will definitely lead to more Dratini sightings in the area.
“As far as I can tell, Incense and Lures will spawn Pokemon that would normally spawn in the area. A large portion of my local area is mostly Doduos, they’re basically our Pidgey/Weedle/etc. that most of you guys joke about. Any Lures within this area will definitely spawn Doduo and any incense as well,” said top commenter IncendiaDrakon.
Others have reported the opposite, saying luring a known “nest” location actually does the opposite: driving away spawns and totally randomizing the Pokemon that appear. This may have something to do with the “spawn table” theory we covered in last week’s PokeStop article. To read up on that, check out this link.
What have your experiences with Lures and Incense been? Have they helped you bag that elusive monster you need to complete your Pokedex? Or are they doing the exact opposite? Let us know in the comments below. For more Pokemon GO news, keep it right here on TheBitBag.
