After the year-long wait, Niantic has finally given us a release date of legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Fans are very excited to see the legendary Pokemon that will arrive in the game this coming Saturday. Here’s everything we know so far about the release of Pokemon GO legendaries.
The Pokemon GO legendaries release date is set on July 22 at the Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago, which is one of Niantic’s first live events for the game. No set time has been given for the release of the special Pokemon but those in attendance simply have to wait for it to arrive. As for those who are outside Chicago, they can get a chance at the Pokemon once the one debuting in Chicago is defeated.
The legendary Pokemon will be available in Chicago initially, but the rest of the world doesn’t have to wait to long for it to arrive in their region. According to Niantic, Legendaries will begin appearing as Eggs in gyms worldwide once the first one in Chicago is defeated. If the team beats the legendary, then they have the chance to catch and use it. Legendaries can’t be used to defend Gyms though.
Based on what we saw from Niantic’s reveal, not all legendary Pokemon will be available on July 22. Also, Niantic has yet to reveal the first set of legendary Pokemon to launch. In the promotional image, we can see the legendary Pokemon Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos and Ho-oh flying about and there’s a good chance that these creatures are the first to arrive.
Throughout the year, more legendary Pokemon will likely arrive and we can expect the rest of the 11 Legendary Pokemon to arrive by the end of 2017. There’s still Mew, MewTwo, the Legendary Dogs, Lugia and Celebi to wait for.
