Niantic?s augmented reality title is only a few weeks short of being a month old, and as expected, players are taking a long time to complete the current Pokedex in the game. There are a total of 151 Pokemon in the first Pokedex, and only six of them are yet to be released: Mew, MewTwo, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno and Ditto. Completing the Pokedex is the penultimate goal in Pokemon GO, but what would happen if players do manage to catch ?em all?
Since there?s no way of completing the Pokedex for now, there?s no way of guessing what kind of commemoration we?ll be getting from Niantic. Luckily, the Pokemon RPGs could be a good guide or guess on what we?ll get for catching all 151 Pokemon in Pokemon GO.
In all of the Pokemon RPGs released on the Game Boy, DS and 3DS, players were given a virtual diploma from developer Game Freak upon completing the Pokedex of the game?s region. An even better diploma is awarded to players who did the near-impossible task of completing the National Pokedex in each game. For those unfamiliar with the National Pokedex, it?s the one that includes ALL the Pokemon and not just the ones seen in the current game?s region.
It?s worth noting, however, that there are a few Pokemon that are exempted from being part of the Pokedex completion. All Mythical Pokemon are almost always exempted from being required to be part of the National Pokedex, and these include Jirachi, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin and the one we can get in Pokemon GO, Mew.
This could mean that Mew is also not a requirement for Pokedex completion in Pokemon GO. However, if Niantic stays true to Mew?s Mythical Pokemon title, it could also mean that it might be one of the rarest Pokemon in the game and might be given to a select few only.
