After weeks of speculation and rumors, Niantic has finally broken their silence on what’s to come to Pokemon GO. Niantic revealed today in a video that Pokemon GO gen 2 have now been released into the wild. Here’s everything we know so far about the new Pokemon GO update.
Togepi And Pichu
As expected, Pokemon GO gen 2 is indeed coming to the game. However, we’re getting a hand at the 100 new Pokemon in a different method than the first gen. According to the video, players can get Togepi and Pichu. Both of these are gen 2 Pokemon that can be acquired from hatching an egg. For now, only the two Baby Pokemon have been confirmed for the game, but it still confirms that gen 2 is well on its way into the game.
Aside from Togepi and Pichu, the video also reveals that players can also get other select gen 2 Pokemon from hatching eggs. It’s likely that these Pokemon could be the other Baby Pokemon including Smoochum, Magby, Elekid and several others more.
Update: Numerous reports have now surfaced that Pichu, Cleffa, and other baby Pokemon have been obtained by hatching an Egg.
With the reveal of Togepi and Pichu and possibly other Baby Pokemon, we might be getting our hands on more?gen 2 Pokemon, particularly the adult versions, within the next couple of months. According to Niantic on their official website, the other Pokemon are set to come by parts and not exactly in one drop unlike gen 1.
Moreover, Niantic also revealed the anticipated Holiday event. “Starting later today through December 29, 2016, 10:00 A.M. PST, you?ll find limited edition Pikachu all over the world. These Pikachu will be wearing a festive hat to celebrate the season! Use the Pok?mon GO AR camera when you encounter them in the wild to take their picture and share it with us using #HolidayPikachu,” says Niantic.
