Are you looking to add a Clefairy & Clefable to your Pokemon GO collection? If the answer is yes, then read on. We already know that Pokemon spawn rates are tied to your location and the time of day. However, some players have taken the theorycrafting even further, suggesting that the phase of the moon may also have an effect on the Pokemon you can encounter.
Do Moon Phases Affect Pokemon GO Spawns?
On?The Silph Road subreddit, a player by the name of 10ofClubs reported a huge uptick in Clefairy and Clefable sightings in his location somewhere in the Northeastern United States. He said the increased frequency may have something to do with the fact that it?s currently a full moon in his part of the world. He had previously never encountered either monster at any of his usual PokeStops but managed to bag two Clefairys that day.
Commenters on the thread are divided on the claim, with some backing up the full moon theory while others are writing it off as a simple coincidence.
?When the game first came out I barely saw any Clefairies but these past couple of days they’ve been pretty common which I think might be something to do with Moon phases,? said user PoppyOP.
On the otherhand, a player by the name of TBatWork said that the opposite was true for him, and that he was only able to encounter Clefairies at 10 am.
10ofClubs also said that the weather might also have something to do with Pokemon spawn rates in Pokemon GO. ?Also there were murmurs of weather affecting spawns, with humidity determining fire vs. water spawns, or rain water spawns,? he explained.
Obviously, none of this info has been proven yet, so you?re going to have to get out there and play Pokemon GO for yourself to see if it?s true. Let us know what you find in the comments below.
