Now that the Pokemon GO Water Event has ended, fans are clamoring to know what Niantic is planning to do next. But with Easter coming up, the most plausible event in line should center around Pokemon eggs.
Some players are specifically hoping to receive another infinite-use incubator for hatching eggs or simply half-distance ones. However, folks at Reddit believe the game maker will unlikely grant the former freebie, citing the amount of revenue the temporary incubators bring into the game.
While half-distance eggs make sense, there’s one more suggestion which many pray Niantic will consider: better odds of finding a 10km egg with a rare Pokémon inside. This should hype up players, considering there are a bunch of rare Pokemon yet to be seen in the game.
Should this materialize, here’s a list of the rare Pokemon we want to see hatch in the game this Easter:
Niantic has yet to release Delibird in the game. Its present attack can either dish out damage OR restore an enemy’s HP. Although it’s often associated with Christmas due to its appearance, it’s absence from the game makes it a candidate for this Easter.
Smeargle is best known for its ability to use the move Sketch, which permanently copies the last move used by the opponent. Due to this, it can legitimately have any move in the Pokémon games except for Chatter, Struggle, and Shadow moves. Just like Delibird, this Pokemon remains unreleased to date.
Unown was added in Pokemon GO in the Gen 2 update in February. It is an especially rare monster that comes in multiple versions. There are 26 Unown to collect in total—one for each letter of the alphabet, according to Polygon. But, so far, players have rarely seen even one of them. This might seem far-fetched, but we’re hoping to see at least one version of this Pokemon become available in Pokemon eggs this Easter.
One of the rarer second generation Pokemon in Pokemon Go is Houndour, a specie which players have hunted since the Gen 2 update. It does not hatch from any eggs at this point, so players really have to locate it in the wild.
5. Shiny Exeggcute
Since Niantic already introduced Shiny Magikarp in the game after the Water Festival Event, it might as well bring another Shiny Pokemon for Easter. Exeggcute should be the most suitable candidate to succeed Magikarp given the double-whammy of a Pokemon that Pokemon is for this season.
In any case, the developer has already set a precedent for Pokemon GO egg-themed events. We can recall Niantic introduced the first, highly anticipated Gen 2 Pokémon to the game via eggs gathered by players at PokéStops. Then it rolled out many days’ worth of free incubators last Christmas.
