Despite not being a legendary creature, Ditto has been very elusive in Pokemon GO. Players can’t seem to find the transforming piece of sludge wherever they go, with some fans theorizing that the Pokemon will probably be available in a later update. However, there are some confirmed details and theories out there that are worth mentioning.
Not much details are known yet on how Ditto will appear in the game. However, players were able to find the Pokemon?s Pokedex description in the game?s code. ?Ditto rearranges its cell structure to transform itself into other shapes. However, if it tries to transform itself into something by relying on its memory, this Pok?mon manages to get details wrong.”
After the Eevee name hack was confirmed by Niantic during the San Diego Comic-Con, the developers stated that there are more easter eggs in the mobile game that players have yet to discover. This has sent some fans into theory overdrive, including one particularly interesting theory from this Reddit user.
The gist of the explanation is that Ditto might be hiding as one of the many creatures in Pokemon GO. In the Nintendo 64 game Pokemon Snap, Ditto is disguised as a Bulbasaur, and the player must have a Pester Ball to return the transforming Pokemon into its original pink form.
Ditto’s first appearance in the Pokemon anime was as Pikachu, though one that needed work. In the show, Ditto had a hard time mastering transformation, often having its face with a body of the Pokemon it was attempting to copy. Will this type of Ditto show up in the mobile game in a future update? Only time will tell.
It was also discovered in the mobile game’s code that Ditto has the same capture and flee rate as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and Pikachu. It’s a small detail, but that might suggest that the Pokemon will be using one of these forms when it makes its first appearance, which is interesting, to say the least.
Until the developers reveal any information, it looks like we are in for a long wait to see when Ditto and the other legendaries will come to the mobile game. One thing is sure though; when Ditto arrives, fans will wonder if breeding will be available in the game as well.
Pokemon GO is currently available in some countries. It’s not yet ready for a worldwide release, but it is getting there. The game is/will be available on both iOS and Android devices, so no one gets left behind.
