Pokemon GO CP Changes

Recently, Niantic announced some Pokemon GO CP changes that may buff and nerf the strengths of the game?s creatures. More creatures were actually changed other than those mentioned in the updates. Here?s what we know so far about the recent changes in Pokemon GO.

Buffed Pokemon

According to the official Niantic update, Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar were buffed in the recent Pokemon GO CP changes. Meanwhile, Niantic also mentioned about nerfing some Pokemon but didn?t specify which ones. Pokemon GO players may have to manually scan their Pokemon to notice the game?s changes as the developer dn?t release a full patch list with the changes.

Changes So Far

According to baxteria?s thread on the Pokemon GO Reddit, fans are already pooling information about their findings about the Pokemon GO CP changes. Reddit user IranianGenius posted a long list of buffed and nerfed Pokemon from compiled community data. The changes include more than three previously mentioned Pokemon, but there?s mostly rough information about the Pokemon GO CP changes. Players can use this as a guide to confirm the changes for themselves.

Update: The Silph Road has posted a full list of nerfs and changes in the latest patch. You can check the full Google Docs list here.

Potential Competitive Shift

Due to the Pokemon GO CP changes, it?s possible that new Pokemon may occupy its competitive top tiers. Players say that Kingler, Gyarados, and Rhydon had large leaps in CP which could make them viable for Gym defending or attacking. However, it may take a few days or weeks for players to adjust themselves to the changes and name the new competitive Pokemon GO staples for Gym battles.

Despite the big changes, it?s still unknown if the Pokemon GO CP changes will draw players back to the game. Niantic has yet to issue any announcement or teases of major updates such as the 2nd Generation Pokemon or new major gameplay features. However, festive events like the upcoming Thanksgiving event may draw players back to the game.
