Niantic, the developer of Pokemon GO, is putting the hammer down on those who have cheated on the game. However, it seems like it is not just the cheaters, because according to several gamers, there are fair players too who were prohibited in playing the game.
Cheaters on different games are everywhere, and the mobile hit game is no different as it also experiences a lot of dishonest persons. For the developers, they believe that the game should be played in a fair way, and that is the main reason why they are banning the cheaters for a lifetime. But, the bad news is, they somehow included the players who have done nothing wrong.
A certain player shared his case on a Reddit thread where he mentioned that the ban occurred after he travelled to several major cities in the United States in a short period of time. Apparently, there are similar cases just like his as they also shared it on the thread. All in all, there are over 200 players who are experiencing the same dilemma, where they are banned although they did not cheat.
According to International Business Times, there are two possible reasons why this is happening. First, it is because the anti-cheat algorithm of Niantic is connected to GPS, wherein a player who travels so fast will be banned from playing the game. It is in line with the fact that third-party softwares like Necrobot are able to trick the app into believing that actual travel had taken place. So, players who jumped from one place to another in a short period of time tend to be banned.
Another theory is that the anti-cheat program for Pokemon GO is related to reports from gamers. For example, a player reported a certain gamer about ?cheating? and automatically, the algorithm of Niantic will block that user. Should that be true, then it would surely become a threat for those who have higher ranks because they are going to be the target of these false reports.
On a good note, some Redditors claim that the anti-cheat algorithm of Niantic is only for a specific user and it does not ban IP addresses or phones. So, for those who still want to play the game after being banned, you should only have to create another account on the game. But obviously, you will have to start all over again.
How about you? Do you think this new move of Niantic on banning cheaters is effective in making playing Pokemon GO much better? Or, did it just start to create more problems for users? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
