Sony has yet to announce the PlayStation Plus May 2017 free games lineup, but fans seem to have an idea of its exact announcement date. PS Plus subscribers can expect the announcement sometime today, Wednesday.

Usual PlayStation Plus Announcement Dates

As seen on the PlayStation Plus subreddit FAQ, Sony holds their lineup announcement either on the first or last Wednesdays of a month. Wednesday announcements only happen in the last Wednesday of the month if the upcoming month doesn’t have a Tuesday on its first week. This is because the free games are rolled out on the first Tuesday of the month.

Wednesday announcements have always been done in previous years and Sony has continued doing so in January, February, March and April 2017. This pattern of announcements have become common for PlayStation users throughout the PS Plus free game service’s continued existence.

Current Day Case

Because May has a Tuesday on its first week, we’ll surely get the announcement reveal today. The previous announcement patterns point out to these two particular dates for announcing the PS Plus May 2017 free games lineup.

PS Plus Free Games Recap

As seen on the US PlayStation Blog announcement last March 29, the PS4 received Drawn to Death and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Meanwhile, the PS3 console got Invizimals: the Lost Kingdom and Alien Rage – Extended Edition. Lastly, the PS Vita received two PS4 cross-play titles: 10 Second Ninja and Curses ‘n Chaos.

Overall, the PS Plus subscribers received mostly independent game titles in April 2017. Potentially, Sony could balance this out through releasing a free AAA title or a previous entry of upcoming releases this month.

PS Plus Free Games For This May 2017

Sony has yet to release an announcement about the free games for May 2017. PS Plus subscribers are waiting for these games as they can just be downloaded and played as long as the subscription still stands. Some of these titles can be recently released indie games or large AAA games of previous years. Overall, players would always love to know if the lineup is worth getting or not.

Only those with a PlayStation Plus subscription on the PlayStation 4 platform can use online functionality for games. More than just an online connectivity pass, a PlayStation Plus subscription grants additional discounts, cloud save, and new free games every month.
