Playstation Network is reported to have a massive outage

The PlayStation Network is down and players all over the world are outraged. Users have been complaining that they are receiving the maintenance error code WS-37432-9. The PSN support team has shared updates that they are looking into the matter. Unfortunately, no scheduled maintenance has been confirmed for today.

“You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience,” was Sony’s latest update.

Suspected DDOS attack

According to Down Detector, the PlayStation Network has been having these issues since 12:25 PM EST. The ones affected by the outage are the users from the UK, Europe and some parts of the US. Down Detector is a website that tracks major network outages.

At the moment, it is unclear what has caused this major outage. A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack might have affected the network as some players suggest. Meanwhile, hacktivist LizardSquad has claimed the said attack via a post on Twitter. But like fake news, fake accounts are also rampant, and these claims have so far not been verified.

According to Express UK, the following PSN services are affected:

  • PlayStation Now
  • PlayStation Video
  • PlayStation Vue
  • Gaming and Social
  • PlayStation Store
  • PlayStation Music
  • Account Management
