This year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) may be one of the biggest stages for announcements this year. Lots of speculations are made about what could be seen during E3. Sony Electronics could make the biggest announcements, including a more powerful console, a virtual reality headset, and a considerable number of first-party games. Could the PlayStation 4k be just around the corner.
Sony may announce its latest gaming console PlayStation 4k or PS 4.5 or PS Neo, name doesn?t matter. Back in March, Kotaku reported for first time that Sony is working on a much powerful gaming console. It would be an upgraded version of the current PlayStation 4. After that, predictions were made that it could be named PS4k or PS4.5.
PlayStation 4k is expected to roll out with notable changes. PlayStation 4k is expected to have an 8-core Jaguar CPU that will boost the processing speed up to 2.1 GHz. According to The Times of India, current CPU of PS4 offers the maximum speed of 1.6 GHz. So, an upcoming console would be a lot more powerful than current PS 4. RAM and onboard storage will also get an upgrade.
It is also expected that it would offer 4K gaming. However, chances are thin as current 4K graphic cards cost at least $400 for the AMD R9 390X and as much as $1000 for the Titan X. These GPU?s will hike the price of PS4K beyond the range of normal gamers.
Moreover, Sony is also expected to launch its VR headset. If the company is planning to release VR, this would be the best stage to do so. Earlier in March, the company revealed the details of PlayStation VR (PSVR) during the press conference at GDC 2016. PSVR will include 5.7-inch OLED display with 1920×1080 resolution split across both eyes, and nine LEDs that let the PlayStation camera provide positional tracking.
Both PS4k and PSVR are supposed to cost $399 each.
E3 2016 is set from June 14 to June 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and can be watched online. Sony Electronics? will hold its press conference on Monday, June 13.
