The Pitch TV show premiere will be tomorrow, 9 p.m. September 22 on Fox. The show follows a fictional character in Ginny Baker, played by Kyle Bunbury, who is a young female baseball pitcher that is well known for having a wicked screwball pitch. This led her to become the first woman to play in the Major League Baseball when chosen by the San Diego Padres.

Pitch TV Show Cast

Other cast members would be Mark-Paul Gosselaar playing Mike Lawson and Mo McRae as Blip Sanders. Ali Larter is also in the mix playing the role of Amelia Slater. Mark Consuelos will play the role of Oscar Arguella and Dan Lauria will play Al Luongo. The role of Blip?s wife, Evelyn Sanders, will be played by Meagan Holder. Michael Beach will play Bill Baker while Tim Jo will play the role of Eliot, the social media-savvy manager.

MLB Support

This is a joint venture of both Fox and the MLB. When MLB signed on to the project, executives have called this an ?unprecedented access to a running TV show.? This is according to a New York Times report.

MLB would never sign on if the showrunners do not make it as authentic as the real game so they provided them with former big-leaguers as advisors. Gregg Olson, the former reliever, serves as Ms. Bunbury?s pitching coach. The league has also given the producers a team?the San Diego Padres. With this comes uniform rights and access to stadiums for shooting.

San Diego Padres

Executive producer and writer Dan Fogelman revealed why they chose a ?small market team? over others. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fogelman expressed that he felt like the team would be friendly to them and so far, they have been. He revealed that the MLB had suggested many teams but they ultimately chose the San Diego Padres as they felt that they would form a good partnership with them. So far, Fogelman said that it felt like a good fit.

Would this partnership with the Padres bring in more crowds in their games? Would this new show touch a new demographic and convince them to tune in to baseball?

The Pitch TV show premiere, again, will be on September 22 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
