Pacquiao vs Mayweather 2 rematch has been speculated just after the first bout. The first bout raised speculations whether Manny Pacquiao was a hundred percent; and if he were, would he have given Floyd Mayweather a tougher fight? Pacquiao has stated this just after his win over Jessie Vargas to capture the WBO Welterweight Title.
The fighting senator from the Philippines has racked up three wins after his back-to-back losses against Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012. These wins were against Brandon Rios, a win over Bradley and a dominant performance against Chris Algieri. The last loss of his career was against the then pound-for-pound boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. After the unanimous decision loss, he bounced back with two wins. These were another win over Bradley and Jessie Vargas. Pacquiao won via unanimous decision in both bouts displaying the speed, power and skill that was expected of him in his blockbuster bout with Mayweather.
Pacquiao vs Mayweather 2 rematch
Mayweather was ringside in Pacquiao?s latest match. This could be a sign that a possible second fight between two boxing superstars will happen sometime soon.
A 49-0 record was amassed by Mayweather in his professional career and rumors are making their way on the internet that he is going to try and break that record. Mayweather?s company has been reported to apply rights for ?50-0?, a slogan for the Mayweather brand. Many think that this could be his last fight against Manny Pacquiao or a circus of a promotional fight against UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Pacquiao though, according to Boxing News 24, is ready to for negotiations for a rematch against Mayweather. According to a report by SkySports, Top Rank and Pacquiao promoter has said that he is 75% optimistic that the bout is going to happen.
There has been no contract that has been signed as of the moment. This is all speculation. This fight though could eclipse the blockbuster Sergei Kovalev vs Andre Ward fight in PPV numbers.
This time around, as Pacquiao lost against Mayweather, he is likely going to get a smaller purse and PPV points. This should not be a problem if Pacquiao is going for legacy over just making money. Settling the score and giving Mayweather his first lost should be the priority of this sporting great. If it goes down to just making enough money, fans will lose more interest in the fight.
As of now, the Pacquiao vs Mayweather 2 rematch is up in the air. Many fans and pundits are quite excited that this thing will come into fruition. Then again, it is the fighters and promoters that will have the biggest say. Stay tuned to find out.
