Just because Overwatch won the Game of the Year at the recent Game Awards doesn?t mean it?s going to be the perfect game. In fact, its latest update called the Overwatch Winter Wonderland surprised fans with an unfortunate choice of skin for the character of Mei. It could have been smooth sailing, and may have given the fans the perfect winter update, except for that.
As Polygon puts it, Mei?s unpopular seasonal look is because it is too basic. In a post by director Jeff Kaplan, he said ?We just sort of make a gut call based off of what we think is cool.Coolness is very subjective, and based off of the community reaction it seems like our gauge was off on this one.?
According to Kaplan?s post, they didn?t actually have a standard basis to what?s legendary and epic. They just know that what they put on Mei is cool. ?Sorry you are disappointed with Mei’s winter skin.. For people concerned that Mei is not going to get another Legendary for a long time, you need not worry. We have something pretty awesome for her early next year. Apologies that our “cool meter” was off from yours on this one. We’ll try to align better on future content.?
Apparently. Mei?s Christmas outfit on Overwatch?s Winter Wonderland update is too regular that it almost features the same costume as her regular ones. Unlike the rest of the characters, wherein they totally looked different on their outfit; Mei didn?t.
Unfortunately, Blizzard is not planning on updating or changing that. Rather, they said they will make it better the next time, which we can conclude to be next winter season. While fans whined over the less than ?legendary Mei skin, others were not complaining. Some fans even said it?s just one skin and if you look at it, it?s not actually bad at all.
Overall, Overwatch?Winter Wonderland update was a success and if others can?t seem to look past Mei?s skins update, they can always wait for the next season to see a new one. For more news about Overwatch ?and its Winter Wonderland update, follow and read us here on TheBitBag.
