Overwatch?s next hero, Sombra, made quite the splash when she was revealed at Blizzcon last week. The Mexican hacker extraordinaire is currently available for testing on the game?s Public Test Realm for the PC. When exactly she will be introduced onto the main servers remains a mystery for now.
When Will Sombra Come To Overwatch?
Many fans are hoping that Sombra will go live together with the new Oni Genji skin after the game?s weekly server maintenance this Tuesday. A large 2GB patch was preloaded onto the game?s main client recently. This update probably contains Sombra and the rest of the new PTR content. However, there is some evidence that indicates players may have to wait a little longer.
Blizzard has just announced that Overwatch will be free-to-play for the upcoming weekend of November 18 to 21. The announcement clearly states that the game?s full roster of ?22 heroes? will be available to everyone. As you probably guessed, Sombra is the 23rd hero joining Overwatch?s ranks, so her release would have to fall after the free weekend ends.
Regardless, some players are still holding out hope that Sombra will be playable once the maintenance ends on Tuesday.??It could be limiting new people to not be able to play sombra just like they can?t play competitive or you know a failsafe in case she isn?t ready by then,? reasons ashamoon24 on the?Overwatch subreddit.
Could the 22 heroes announcement be a simple error on Blizzard?s part? We can only wait until Tuesday to find out. Whatever the case, we don?t suspect fans will have to wait that much longer if Sombra fails to show up this week.
