The next Overwatch patch will see improvements on the one and only Sombra. Some players may be aware that the last patch introduced several reworks on the aforementioned character. However, the updates did not take into effect immediately. This is due to the fact that their inclusion in the most recent patch was actually accidental. Thus, the next patch will address this and finally activate the promised improvements on Sombra.
Overwatch Patch Improves on Sombra: What You Need to Know
Complete changes for Sombra that players can expect from the next Overwatch patch are the following:
• No longer gains ult from health pack healing
• Weapon Spread decreased by 10%
• Hacking speed increased from 0.8s to 0.65s
An additional update includes Sombra’s hacking skill being capable of disabling more abilities. As Principal Designer Geoff Goodman explains, “Basically any ability that requires a button press will also be disabled.” The list of such abilities is as follows:
• Genji – Double Jump/Wall Climb
• Pharah – Hover Jets
• Hanzo – Wall Climb
• Lucio – current running Crossfade song will be disabled
• Mercy – Angelic Descent
Goodman adds that the update aims to address the awkwardness of Sombra’s ult gain through health packs, as well as providing the character with more power and usefulness for the rest of her kit. As to when this next Overwatch patch — which will take effect in the PTR (Public Test Realm) — will roll in has yet to be announced.
Overwatch Lunar New Year 2018
In other Overwatch news, the game’s most recent update launched its Year of the Dog Lunar New Year event. Already active, the event will run until March 5 and includes a new map, called Ayutthaya, set in Thailand. Interestingly, this new Overwatch map is the first one to be made specifically for Capture the Flag mode.
One of the most anticipated additions that the Year of the Dog event brings is the inclusion of new skins for characters. Year of the Dog includes a total of six new skins, including ones for Pharah, Mercy, Genji, and Zarya. All in all, the event includes over 50 new seasonal items.
Another recent update is the ability to change skins before a match commences. It’s a convenient feature that many fans have long requested. Changing between the skins you own for a character can be done from the Assemble Your Team screen. Take note, however, that this cannot be adjusted in the middle of a match.
