Blizzard?s holiday event for Overwatch was a big hit. The Overwatch community was certainly pleased during the holiday season. But now that the event had ended last January 2, players are already looking over the horizon for the next big event. And many fans now believe that the next Overwatch event is for Lunar New Year.

Overwatch Skins For Lunar New Year Changes Symmetra

Recently, Overwatch developers have finally revealed new skins that are set to arrive this coming January 28, 2017. The interesting thing is that the skins all hint at a common Lunar New Year event theme.

Gaming Bolt had reported that Junkrat will have a Firecracker while the developers further revealed that Symmetra will be receiving dragon heads to change her Photon Projectors.

It’s also been reported that Genji will have a Dragon Dancer skin while Mercy will be getting a white and gold feather trimming finish in honor of the Year of the Chicken.

Overwatch news: Event Speculation

Although there is still no official announcement yet for a Lunar New Year Event for Overwatch, the speculation for such an event has become too plausible. The new Lunar New Year themed skins are already a pretty big hint for the upcoming event (hopefully).

Back in December there was controversy over Mei?s legendary Christmas skin. Many felt that the skin was not worthy of a legendary status. Luckily, Overwatch game director Jeff Caplan answered on a forum post. He said:??For people concerned that Mei is not going to get another Legendary for a long time you need not worry. We have something pretty awesome for her early next year.?

This has led people to speculate that Mei will be getting an awesome new legendary skin in an upcoming Lunar New Year event.

Finally, it actually wouldn?t make sense if Overwatch forgoes a Lunar New Year event. World of Warcraft has a Lunar New Year event and it makes sense that it has one since the game has such a strong following in Asia as well. Surely Overwatch will be following World of Warcraft?s footsteps?

But what do you guys think of all of this? Will Overwatch have a Lunar New Year Event this coming January 28, 2017? Let us know in the comments section below!
