Blizzard?s Overwatch is nearly a month old, but the game is still currently taking the world by storm and fans are still very eager to flock the servers daily. Although the current cast of characters are fun and impressive, fans are still looking for more Overwatch heroes. Many expected that Blizzard will reveal more characters at E3, but to their disappointment, the game wasn?t even present. So when will Blizzard reveal the new Overwatch Hero DLC?
For starters, Blizzard wasn?t even present at E3 2016. While some developers have already begun packing up, the guys at Blizzard opted to skip E3 this year, along with Activision and others.
Although Overwatch didn?t share the spotlight at E3 2016, it?s sure to get a lot of attention at Blizzard?s very own event, Blizzcon. Blizzcon 2016 will be held this November, and while the company is yet to confirm what the event has in store, it?s very likely that Overwatch will have a grand stage. A tournament and possibly details about the future Overwatch Hero DLC are very likely at Blizzcon. During last year?s Blizzcon, Blizzard revealed several details on its titles including Diablo, World of Warcraft and Overwatch, which was in beta back then.
In a recent blog post by Blizzard?s Jeff Kaplan, he stated that Blizzard is indeed working on new heroes but they are still in the early stages of development. Hopefully, they have enough time for a Blizzcon 2016 reveal.
The lore of Overwatch is open to a lot of content that could be added by Blizzard in the long run. The list of future Overwatch Hero DLC characters include the highly speculated Sombra and one of the Overwatch founders, Liao. But they?re not all Blizzard could add. The list of rumored characters is huge, including a physical form of Athena, the legendary wearer of Doomfist, and Soundquake.
We still got several months to go before Blizzcon, so we may have to wait a while longer before new characters are added to the game. Blizzard could introduce new characters before then, but it?s not likely.
