The roster of Overwatch characters may see a new addition soon enough, especially with a recent update from the game’s developer, Blizzard Entertainment. Here’s what you need to know about it.
Overwatch Characters Update: Will a New Hero Soon be Available Soon?
Recently, Blizzard released a rather puzzling teaser for Overwatch in the form of a new piece of lore from the game. Published via the game’s official Twitter account, the bit of news details a declassified After-Action report of what is being referred to as “Operation White Dome.”
As per the Twitter post, Operation White Dome took place on the outskirts of Istanbul, Turkey. The report is written by Ana Amari and reveals that after being ambushed, Torbjorn Lindholm sustained injuries. Fortunately, Reinhardt Wilhelm was there to save the day.
Nothing seems a little too out of the ordinary in the report — except for the mention of a Private First Class Emre Sarioglu. As to who this Emre Sarioglu is remains unknown. Thus, many fans now believe this to be a teaser of the next hero to be included in the game. However, whether or not this will indeed be the case is still up in the air.

As many may know, the game was first made available in 2016 and debuted with a lineup of 21 Overwatch characters. The latest addition to the roster was Moira — a Support character — who was made available in November 2017.
Other Overwatch News
As fans await on confirmation regarding a new Overwatch character, they can continue to keep themselves busy with the game’s still-ongoing Lunar New Year event, Year of the Dog. As with the previous Lunar New Year event, Year of the Dog includes several new skins, emotes, and even more loot boxes yet again.
Additionally, this year’s Lunar New Year event comes with tweaks to the Capture the Flag mode. It also adds a new map known as Ayutthaya. The event will be available until March 5.
Year of the Dog aside, there is also this year’s Overwatch League to keep an eye out for. Currently ongoing, the most recent development involves the Houston Outlaws, who took down the London Spitfire 3-2.
Interestingly, Twitch is also involved in the festivities by rewarding fans with in-game items when they “cheer” on their teams via Twitch chat during matches. Prizes include new emotes and rare character skins, as well as the chance to receive “league tokens” so as to buy in-game league jerseys.
