Blizzard Entertainment revealed the upcoming Overwatch anniversary events skins through the game’s Taiwanese Facebook page. New legendary skins for Bastion, Pharah, Soldier 76, and Zarya were showcased in the teasers. Here’s what we know about the Overwatch anniversary event skin releases.
Four Legendary Skins
As seen on the Overwatch Taiwan Facebook page, a video showcased the four new skins in Overwatch. The skins doesn’t seem to have a unified theme. It also doesn’t match the colors of the Overwatch anniversary event logo.
Bastion and Soldier 76 seems to share a similar color scheme. Pharah’s skin has an Arabic design to it. Lastly, Zarya’s skin feels similar to Orisa’s design. Perhaps we’ll know more information about these skins once the event starts.
Nods to Project Titan?
When Overwatch was still in development, it was actually called “Project Titan,” which was an MMO that featured Overwatch’s art style. However, this project’s development was repurposed to Overwatch and the rest was history. Tracer’s design is one of the Project Titan designs that made it in Overwatch.
Potentially, these skins might be in reference for Project Titan. Soldier 76 and Bastion’s legendary skin design for this event doesn’t match Overwatch’s art style that well.
Revealed Anniversary Content So Far
Blizzard Entertainment has just started to reveal Overwatch anniversary event teasers as of late. The event dates have been confirmed but not much of its content are known. The last Overwatch anniversary event video teaser mostly contained a recap of previous Overwatch events and didn’t reveal much about the event.
Other reveals include new voice lines and emotes from select playable heroes. At best, Blizzard Entertainment was successful in giving fans something to look forward to but not exactly talk about the content’s details.
If the Overwatch Anniversary event follows the pattern of the previous events, we may get more skins the four revealed Legendary skins. Epic skins were also released that matched the event’s design. However, these skins mostly use the character’s original skin but works well for some of its fans. Since the anniversary event colors are black and gold, we might get black and gold skins for some characters in the game.
The Overwatch anniversary event starts this coming May 23 and ends on June 12. It’s another three week Overwatch event for players to collect as much loot box for the new cosmetics. Stay updated with more Overwatch news here on The BitBag.
