Sega has announced some good news for old school gamers of the hit racer, Outrun. Outrun, which debuted in 1986 by game designers, Yu Suzuki and Sega-AM2. It rose through the arcades and managed to breakout onto Sega Genesis. Looks like it’s heading to Live Arcade.
SAN FRANCISCO (December 19, 2008) – SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the return of Outrun™, the classic arcade racing game. Developed by acclaimed Sheffield studio Sumo Digital, OutRun™ Online Arcade has been updated for the 21st century in stunning high-definition and will be available in January 2009 via Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®.
Dodging opponents at full throttle, players will be overcome with nostalgia as they rediscover the 15 glorious OutRun2SP courses. From hilly streets to sunny beaches, the game offers mile after mile of unrelenting acceleration, thrills and action. The draw to the open road has never been so appealing as players race across the U.S. in one of 10 high-performance, fully licensed Ferrari cars to a heart pumping soundtrack.
Available for the first time on Xbox LIVE®, OutRun Online Arcade delivers online multiplayer racing for up to six players as well as fast-paced single player action through Heart Attack, Time Attack and OutRun modes. OutRun Online Arcade on Xbox LIVE® will also feature voice communication and Achievements.
OutRun Online Arcade will be released on Xbox LIVE® Arcade in Q1 2009.
