We’re still months away from Outlander Season 3 premiere which means the coming months will all be filled with nothing but wild speculations. The wait is agonizing but as the famous saying goes: “Anything worth having is worth waiting for.” That should be the case with the show’s imminent return which will explore the same theme as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) strive to defy the odds and find a way back to each other after decades apart.
Season 2 concluded with Heughan’s character sending pregnanjat Claire back to her time as he prepared to join the Battle of Culloden. Believing Jamie had died in the battle, Claire reunited with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies), raising Brianna together. It was only after Claire returned to Scotland 20 years later that she found out that Jamie had survived the catastrophic war. As she readies to return to him, the big question now is: Will they be the same people who parted ways 20 years ago?
Here’s everything we know about Season 3 so far.
Outlander Season 3 Plot
Season 3 opens shortly after Claire returns to her present in 1948. She reunites with Menzies’ Frank who won’t be happy to discover she’s pregnant with another man’s child. Jamie, on the other hand, is set to deal with the aftereffects of the failed battle as a prisoner in the 18th century, and he will meet some interesting characters along the way.
“As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love,” the synopsis reads. “The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion.”

Outlander Season 3 Release Date
The network previously confirmed that Outlander will return with the whole of its 13 episodes in September. However, there’s no actual day attached to it yet.
“While ‘Droughtlander’ will last just a little longer, we feel it is important to allow the production the time and number of episodes needed to tell the story of the Voyager book in its entirety,” Starz Programming President Carmi Zlotnik said in a statement. “The scale of this book is immense, and we owe the fans the very best show. Returning in September will make that possible.”
