Orlando was rocked by another shooting incident, the second one since June 10th when former ?The Voice? singer Christina Grimmie was shot at The Plaza Live by a man identified as James Loibl after the former?s concert at the venue. According to a report from CNN, the latest shooting tragedy happened in an Orlando LGBT night club which has left 50 dead and several more injured in what is considered as the deadliest mass shooting incident in the United States.
According to the same CNN report, the shooting incident happened inside Pulse, a gay nightclub. A shooter opened fire inside the club which caused the death of 50 people with 53 other clubgoers injured in the aftermath of the shooting. Authorities also reveal that he gunman was ?organized and well-prepared? and that he had ?an assault-type weapon, a handgun and some type of other device on him.?.
At the moment, the incident is being suspected as a terrorist attack although details are still slowly trickling in giving a clearer picture of the tragedy. The Guardian reports that the gunman is believed to be Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old Florida resident. Mateen is believed to be a US citizen of Afghan descent.
Matten was reported to have opened fire at the Pulse Club in the early hours of June 12, Sunday. The incident shocked everyone, with staff of the club posting on Facebook for ?Everyone get out of pulse and keep running?.
The same report from The Guardian mentions that the gunman died in a shootout with police officers as the latter broke into the night club to rescue the 30 hostages being held by the former. It also adds that investigators believed that the gunman ?may have had extremist beliefs? and that they would ?consider possible links to Isis? although they are pursuing more than one lead at this point in time.
