A few days ago, it was reported that the OnePlus 5 will arrive to consumers in the next couple of months. This sparked rumors that the said phone will become available sometime in the summer. Now, OnePlus itself has confirmed the news; the OnePlus 5 is coming  and it looks like fans will have an interesting summer ahead of them.

OnePlus just posted a status on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo pertaining to the OnePlus 5. In the said post, the company teased its fanbase with the tagline “Hey Summer! Give me five!” This was immediately followed by an image with the words “HELLO5.”

This could only mean that OnePlus is gearing up for yet another flagship killer to be released sometime at the end of July.

Ahead of this announcement, popular online discount shops like GearBest and GeekBuying have already started their respective pre-order programmes for the OnePlus 5. On the GeekBuying website, one can see that the phone is now being marketed with a $450 price tag. Unfortunately, it should be noted that this version of the phone is for the Chinese market only.

For those who are thinking about getting the OnePlus 5 should get the international edition. Fortunately, GearBest has the said version of the phone, also on pre-order. However, the price on GearBest is at $688 including shipping.

Another interesting bit about the pre-order programmes is the fact that both web shops somehow confirmed the specifications for the new OnePlus phone. And if they are to be taken on face value, the phone, as expected, will have a Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. Furthermore, the rear dual-camera is specced at 23- megapixels while the front facing one is at 16 megapixels.

All in all, the specs for the OnePlus 5 are pretty impressive. Rightly fitting to carry the name flagship killer. For more updates on the OnePlus 5, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
