OnePlus 5 official photo shared on the Internet

Ahead of its scheduled launch, OnePlus has shared the first official photo of the OnePlus 5. From the company’s Twitter page, OnePlus posted a product launch announcement showing what its next flagship killer would look like. And from the looks of it, it does share some similarities with a more commonly known smartphone in the market.

A closer inspection of the image that OnePlus posted on Twitter, it seems like the OnePlus 5 will resemble an iPhone 7 Plus in looks. The overall shape of the phone is quite similar to the said iPhone model down to the antenna traces at the top and bottom of the back case.

In retrospect, is also shares the same looks as the OPPO R11 smartphone that was launched in China earlier this week. Even the two cameras share an astounding similarity to the iPhone 7 Plus.

This is quite a bold move for OnePlus. This is mainly because Apple does not take kindly to anyone who copies its designs. Last year, Apple and Samsung were battling it out as the former accused the latter of copying patented designs. At the end of it, Samsung was ordered to pay more than half a million dollars as some sort of royalty.

It will be quite interesting as to how Apple will react with the OnePlus 5. Although, this will not be the first time that an Apple product is copied by Chinese companies. Xiaomi has been at the forefront of copying Apple designs for several years in a row. Its own line of ultra-light laptops are modelled as close as possible to Apple MacBook line. Furthermore, Xiaomi has also released smartphones in China that share the same design features as previous iPhone models.

The OnePlus 5 will be officially launch on June 20. At the moment, experts believe that the new flagship killer will be priced around $450 or more. The good news is, it is only a matter of days before OnePlus finally reveals just how much the OnePlus 5 will be. For more updates on the OnePlus 5, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
