OnePlus 2 announced last year that they would be launching its Android 6.0 Marshmallow OxygenOS update in the first quarter of 2016. With the new update rolling out soon, they are now reportedly undergoing a soak test for the OxygenOS 3.0 update.
Android Police?reports that they received a screenshot of the speculated update from a reader. There is no official announcement from the company at the moment, but reports say that it is a soak test for the Oxygen 3.0 based on Android 6.01 Marshmallow.
The publication said that there is no confirmation in the screenshot that the phone is running Marshmallow, but some tweaks in the ROM of the OnePlus can be seen. New wallpapers, home screen customizations and a slider for alerts can also be seen in the images. Android Police adds that the latest update which is Oxygen 2.2.1 that rolled out early March included a few new features, but they weren?t worth all the hype. However, when the newest update rolls out, users should expect to get full-on new features — just the real deal. There are no official announcements yet of the other new features to expect or the exact date of release, but the new software update appears to be something we can really be excited about. ?
For those new to the term ?soak test,? Gadgets 360 writes, that it is a term used to ?describe the rollout of an update to a limited number of users to identify last minute bugs ahead of the official rollout.?
The report adds some information about updates for the company?s first smartphone, the OnePlus One wherein it was announced last year that users will get the Cyanogen OS-based update in the first quarter of the year as well. While the OnePlus X recently got an update that fixed some camera issues, it was not an official update on the OS.
