One Piece Film: Gold opened last July 23 in Japanese cinemas, earning roughly 11 million dollars on its first weekend alone. This brought Finding Dory down to the number two spot while Pokemon the Movie: Volcanion and the Exquisite Magearna, boosted by Pokemon Go game?s arrival on July 22, held onto the third spot. One Piece Film: Gold screened in over 743 theaters all over Japan, making it one of the largest in the country to date.
Here is the official synopsis: Set in Grantesoro, an independent country chartered by the World Government, home of the world?s greatest entertainment city where well-known pirates, [Marines], and millionaires throughout the world gather in an ?absolute sanctuary? that even the World Government can?t touch.
There, Luffy and the others meet the ruler of the country, the golden emperor Gild Tesoro who easily wins pirates, the [Marines], and even the World Government over to his side with money. He is about to take action to satisfy his bottomless ambition which may result in major changes in power relationships in the New World?
A 24 Karat Gold Figure of Monkey D? Luffy
To commemorate the film, Tokuriki Honten sculpted two 24-karat solid gold, limited edition Luffy figurines. Kotaku reported that one figure is 180mm tall and weighs 1,300 grams, while the other figure is 100mm tall and weighs 32 grams. Both are priced at 20 million yen and 650,000 yen respectively. These two gold figures will be sold in Japan on August 1.?

The demo for the new One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum, a 2D fighting game developed by Arc System Works for 3Ds, is now available in the Nintendo eShop in Japan.
This demo features various attack combos and cut-in scenes from your favorite playable characters such as Luffy, Gild Tesoro, Sanji and Fujitora. You can also use Tanaka, Miss Baccarat, Ivankov, Mr. 3, Tibany, Bellamy, Kizaru, and Tashigi as assist characters.
The said game is set to launch on September 21.
One Piece manga is now on its 834th chapter. Creator Eiichiro Oda stated in a print interview earlier this month that the One Piece story was about 65% done.
