The Women?s Team Final for the Gymnastics competition at the Rio Olympics 2016 will be happening this Aug. 9, Tuesday, at 4:00p.m. Team U.S.A. will be defending its team title in Tuesday?s competition with Simone Biles and Aly Raisman qualifying for the team final.
Before the Rio Olympics even started, it is a known fact that it will be a sure gold for the U.S. for the team and all-around final. Biles could even possibly win five gold medals in this year?s Olympics as she is the top qualifier in the balance beam, vault, and floor events. At 19, this is her first ever Olympic competition and could even emerge as the first ever female gymnast to win five gold medals in one Olympics.
Team U.S.A.?s ?Fierce Five? includes Biles, Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian, and Laurie Hernandez. Raisman will also be competing on the floor final with Biles, while Hernandez will compete in the balance beam final. Douglas, who was the 2012 Olympic Champion, will compete in the uneven bars final along with Kocian.
Aside from Team U.S.A., the other teams to look forward to in the team final are China and Russia, LA Times reports. Other notable gymnasts are Shang Chunsong of China who will be competing in the individual all-around and India?s Dipa Karmakar who will be competing on the vault. ?Karmakar is also the first ever gymnast from India to qualify in the Women?s vault finals.
