Twelve-time Olympic medalist in swimming Ryan Lochte is joining Dancing with the Stars Season 23 according to reports online. The notorious 32-year-old swimmer, who gained infamy recently after fabricating stories of getting robbed in Rio, has not made any formal statement about his apparent joining in the new season. But sources online revealed that he is.
According to the USA Today, Lochte risked losing at least 4 sponsors after the unfortunate event in Rio. Rio officials confirmed that Lochte fabricated the robbing incident to cover up their misdemeanor: vandalizing a bathroom and trashing it by urinating against the building.
Lochte?s statement drew outrage, not only among the Brazilians, but from the whole world who have been closely monitoring the development of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Brazilians believe that Lochte?s statement is clear black propaganda against Rio?s ability to host a secure Olympics.
Ryan Lochte has since admitted that he was drunk at the time the incident happened and apparent CCTV footage of the supposed altercation was also captured. In a recent interview with NBC, featured on TV Guide, Lochte acknowledged his mistake, saying ?I know what I did was wrong.? Matt Lauer interviewed Lochte wherein the Olympian said ?That didn’t happen and that’s why — I over exaggerated that part. I’m not making me being intoxicated like an excuse, I’m not doing that at all. It was my fault and I shouldn’t have said it.”
He also apologized to the people of Brazil saying, ?They put on a great Games. The people of Rio or Brazil, the authorities, everyone there put on a great Games.?
Ryan Lochte has since dropped by Speedo and Ralph Lauren after the incident. The U.S. Olympic Committee is also said to drop punishment on Lochte and the athlete is still waiting for the final verdict. His interview implied that if he was more careful about giving his statement, made some consideration with his chosen words, these things would not have happened.
