It would seem like Nokia is hell bent on making a comeback in the mobile phone industry. The once glorious brand has been slumbering for quite a some time while the likes of Samsung and Apple have been making their names known across the globe. Now, it looks like the time of Nokia has finally arrived. Fresh off of its launch of mid-tier phones, Nokia and HMD Global are now rumored to release the very first flagship under the current partnership. Rumor has it that the Nokia 9 could soon hit store shelves and to make it more interesting, it will have a somewhat affordable price tag.
According to NokiaPowerUser, the Nokia 9 is slated for a late July or early August launch. This means that the phone may become available from Nokia retailers across the globe sometime in the third quarter of 2017. Furthermore, consumers will be happy to know that while the Nokia 9 is a premium flagship phone, it will be priced slightly lower than most premium phones in the market.
Nokia 9 specs
The upcoming flagship phone from Nokia and HMD Global is said to have the latest Snapdragon 835 chip from Qualcomm. This will be combined with an Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of flash storage.
In terms of display, although not bezel-less, will be a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel with QHD resolution. The front-facing camera is a 12-megapixel sensor while the main rear one has a 22-megapixel dual Carl-Zeiss lens setup.
The battery, on the other hand, is a decent 3,800mAh lithium-ion cell. Since the phone uses the Snapdragon 835, it means that Quick Charge 4.0 will be used for battery charge management.
The Nokia 9 will also have a number of biometric sensors like fingerprint and iris scanners. Just like any premium phone in the market, the upcoming Nokia flagship will also be IP68 rated and will run the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Nokia 9 price and release date
As mentioned earlier, the Nokia 9 will be launched sometime between July and August. The rumoured release date will be in the third quarter of 2017. The phone will carry the price tag of $699 in the US or €749 in Europe.
Unfortunately, there is no way of confirming this rumor. Readers are urged to take this one with a grain of salt. For more updates on the Nokia 9, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
