It has only been weeks since Nokia launched its newest line of Android phones, but it looks like there are more coming this year. Word is that HMD Global is keen on producing a few Nokia-branded phones and that one of them is likely to be a flagship. Dubbed the Nokia 9, leaked specs of the premium handset reveals it’s not something big players should take lightly. There’s a ton of good stuff under the hood that can potentially outshine even the stunning Samsung Galaxy 8.

The leak, obtained by NokiaPowerUser, claims that the Nokia 9 will sport a 5.5-inch QHD OLED screen, Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 22MP dual-lens Carl Zeiss rear camera and a 12MP front-facing snapper. If proven accurate, Nokia 9 beats Samsung’s flagship storage and camera-wise. In comparison, S8 only offers 4GB RAM of internal memory and a decent 12MP single primary camera paired with an 8MP secondary snapper.

But that’s not all. Nokia 9 is tipped to also feature a 3,800mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4—3,000mAh bigger than S8’s. Although the design isn’t detailed, it will reportedly have a finger and iris scanner of its own as well, plus an IP68-certified build, matching the ones featured in the Korean flagship. This means it would be dust-proof and water-resistant to a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

If the rumors are anything to go by, the premium device will also come equipped with Snapdragon 835, Adreno 540 GPU, 64 or 128GB of storage and Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box.

Nokia 9 2017: A Standout Device

The screen sounds more like a standard flagship one, so this is probably one of the parts where Samsung wins. But its use of OLED should still help it stand out, as the technology tends to give more vibrant visuals.

As for its audio, the same source also reports that the Nokia 9 will have OZO audio enhancements. It is a Nokia tech that allows 3D audio capture on smartphones with four microphones, spatial 360 audio capture on phones with 3 mics and spatial audio capture on phones with just 2 microphones. So the more microphones, the more of a surround sound effect users can get.

It’s unclear what Nokia 9 looks like but Concept Creator came up with a stunning concept for HMD Global’s anticipated flagship. Despite packing all the aforementioned technology, the device looks remarkably thin. Check out the video below:

Nokia 9 2017 Release Date

HMD has not confirmed anything about Nokia 9 yet. However, it is expected to be launched as early as June this year and become widely available by Q3 of 2017. The phone will carry the price tag of $699 in the US or €749 in Europe.

Apart from Nokia 9, the smartphone maker is said to be working on two more high-end smartphones called the Nokia 8 and Nokia 7. Then again, these are mere speculations so take it with a grain of salt. We’ll let you know here at The Bitbag, though, once legit information arrives. Stay tuned!
